Just back from holiday but want more relaxation in the
sun?
South Islanders can extend their sunshine hours with direct
flights between Christchurch and Rarotonga next winter.
Virgin Australia is offering a third year of weekly flights
across the winter months, from June 30 to October 12.
Christchurch Airport's Chief Aeronautical and Commercial
Officer, Justin Watson, says the "sun seeker" service has been
popular for the past two years.
"The popularity of these winter getaways underline the Cook
Islands destination as
much-requested and much-loved by South Islanders," he says.
"The Saturday afternoon departure means South Islanders can
drive to Christchurch Airport, park, walk into the terminal and fly
direct to an island vacation in the sun. Easy, sunny and
relaxing."
Graeme West, GM Australia and New Zealand, Cook Islands Tourism
Corporation, says
"This is the third year Virgin Australia has operated the
Christchurch to Rarotonga service, as a response to fantastic
support from 'Mainlanders' wanting a winter getaway. Many people
know Raro is such a relaxed and easy destination - plus being able
to fly non-stop from Christchurch is the icing on the cake".
